What do you do when your predictable life goes spiralling out of control? 

When your supposed childhood friend commits the most brutal betrayal, completely gutting you, destroying the life you thought you were meant to have? 

You make dangerous, careless decisions with your best friend, completely molding yourself into someone you’re not. I thought clubs, alcohol, and promiscuity would numb my pain, sculpt me into the person I should be; strong, confident, alive… 

I was wrong. 

So now I’m forced to go back home, where the only opportunity to throw my life back on track is located. I never wanted my parent’s wealth or notability, but I’m afraid if I don’t take the flight from Florida to Grand Rapids, I’m going to drown. 

But instead of drowning in my own insecurities, I’m being consumed by my boss, Tyler Conklin. His secrets are devouring me, along with his mystery and charming grin. He wants me, his advancements are clear; but so are his exertions to keep me his biggest secret of all. 

I’m not sure if I can tolerate being his covert lover, especially when he has so many secrets of his own.

    Loved the twists and turns. It gave every emotion you want. Hard to put down
  • Frustrating with some redeeming qualities

    First of all, the book is too long, needs better editing and has no defined ending. Secondly, I almost stopped reading several times because the main character, Rebecca, is just WAY too much of a doormat. Food issues, body issues, self esteem isssues, mommy issues...it was just too much. Supposed best friend sleeps with and then steals your boyfriend? Sure, continue being her roommate and her friend. There’s so much more but I don’t want to get into spoilers. The only reason I kept going is I figured after all the buildup there had to be a great and satisfying blow up. You can see the precipitating events coming from a mile away. The blow up does eventually come and it’s only partially satisfying and then the potential good vibes from it are immediately crushed when Becca feels bad for telling everyone exactly what they needed to hear. Back to being a doormat evidently. But of course we don’t know because the book just ends. I’m curious about what happens next but almost fearful as the only way there’s enough material for another book in this story is if Becca is back to being a low self esteem doormat. This book was already too long yet it just needed another chapter or two to deal with the ramifications of the blow up and then an epilogue. Anything more is probably going to amount to more reader frustration. As for the male main character, Tyler, he clearly has issues and should have communicated the, inch earlier to Becca but she’s also a bit self-involved in not seeing the steps Tyler is taking to try and protect her as well as himself from his father. Not justifying his actions but rather seeing her reaction to them as not workable for me.

    This book kept me interested with the different plots that had showed up within the story. It kept me wondering what would happen with Brooke and Tyler next especially since Tyler was so mysterious. Can't wait to continue on with the trilogy.

    I fell in love with this book! I love all the other stories going on as well...Connor and Ashlynn.. And Jamie and hers friendship I love.. I love how they go through whatever they go through... Makes Tyler realize what he wants and hopefully is ready to fight for. Can't wait to see where the story goes!!!
